Solid & Hazardous Wastes Laboratory


Initially, the laboratory is called out Solid Laboratory, established in 1987, is one of the laboratories in the Environmental Enginneering Laboratory. Can be said that the laboratory out in the Solid and Hazardous WasteITB is the first university laboratory in Indonesia, which specializes in the analysis of solid and Hazardous Waste.

At first academic laboratory specializes in this problem wastes, but in line with the amount of the claim then evolved into a laboratory which is engaged in the analysis of solid waste, sludge and waste B3 (according to PP 18/1999 jo PP85/1999). In addition to carrying out the duties and academic research, in accordance with Tridharma University, the laboratory also provides service to outside analysis services in connection with interest.


Analysis and characterization solid and Hazardous Waste is important with multi-target, namely:

* Knowing the composition and characteristics of early-out
* Knowing the likelihood and potential keterolahan recycling
* Knowing the process of handling that should be done
* Prediction of the impact of human handling and the environment

In addition to waste reduction efforts prior to form, the general handling of waste including:

* Storage
* Transportation
* Processing and recycling
* Evacuation / destruction

These activities can cause the influence of the waste itself and of the man and the environment. For the laboratory analysis is required, such as:

* The composition and characterization of waste in general
* Characterization leachate from a landfill and possible keterolahannya
* Karaketristik and potential bio-gas from a landfill (TPA)
* Characteristics of a potential enersi waste
* Characterization ash residue burning waste
* Characterization sludge / slurry of liquid waste processing
* B3 waste characterization, such as the TCLP
* Solidifikasi and characterization results of mixing materials

Consultancy services

In addition to providing laboratory services, laboratory and provided consulting services to various problems of handling solid waste and B3 are more comprehensive, with support facilities and human resources are reliable. Consulting services can be an alternative analysis of the impact and management:

* System collection, pewadahan, and transportation
* Keterolahan through pengomposan
* Keterolahan through incinerators
* Keterolahan through gasifikasi
* Acquisition of return (recovery), recycling (recycle) and use again (reuse)
* Keterolahan through solidifikasi-stabilization
* The impact and potential recovery of bio-gas technology landfilling
* And other non-technical aspects in the management of waste and waste B3.
