Cooperation between Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering with Tohoku University and Guest Lecture on Water Resources Management.

March 11, 2016 tohoku-ftsl2Prof. Daisuke Komori from Laboratory of Hydro-Environmental System, Tohoko University, Japan visited Faculty of Civil and Environment Engineering on March 11 2016. In this opportunity, Prof. Komori reported the collabrative research of Prof. Dr.Ir. Enri Damanhuri, Dr. Mochammad Chaerul, S.T., M.T., Hadi Kardhana, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., dan Dr. Eng. Mohammad Farid, S.T., M.T. entitled “Feasibility Study on the Value-Based Co-Creation of Technology and Lifestyle for a Society based on a Virtuous Materials Cycle.” This research was part of the follow ups in MoU between ITB and Tohoku University. This research topic was also strongly related to the integreted global research launched in 2012 in UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) attended by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), United Nations University (UNU), United Science Council (ISSC), Belmont Forum (BF) and the International Group of Funding Agencies for Global Change Research (IGFA). The objective of this collabborative research was to inform society the important findings related to global warming and to identify transitional opportuinity for global sustainability. This research was divided into three phases. Currently, the first phase was carried out by taking Bandung as the case study and will be formally concluded thorugh a symposium on 28 March 2016.

Prof. Komori also gave a guest lecture to students of Water Resources Engineering and Management in GKU I, Jatinangor Campus of ITB. All students were very enthusiastic to attend this lecture entitled “Water, Hydrological Cycle, and Environment.” All students were very enthusiastic listening to the lectures and asked various questionsrelated to hidrology, global issue related to water management, and impact of climate change. At the end of the lecture, Dwi Angga Putro representing the students gave souvenirs to Prof. Komori.
