History

Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FTSL) formerly the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP), as a faculty composed of education majors who are in the neighborhood FTSP, namely the Department of Civil Engineering. This department is a department of education as a forerunner to the higher education institutions in Indonesia techniques – Technische Hoogesschool (THS) Bandoeng was established on July 3, 1920. In 1959, Technische Hoogesschool (THS) Bandoeng transformed into the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Indonesia below. In the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering are composed of portions of Civil Engineering and Geodesy Section. In 1962 evolved with the establishment of Sanitary Engineering Section.

In the restructuring of ITB in 1973, Section of Art and Design with Civil Engineering, Geodesy, Architecture, Planology, and Health Engineering are grouped into Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning or Fakultas Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan (FTSP) as one of the faculty at ITB. Section of Art and Design changed its name to be Department of Art and Design. In 1980 the Department’s designation was changed to the Study Program, so the moment it includes FTSP majoring in Civil Engineering; Architecture; Geodesy Engineering; Environmental Engineering; Planology Engineering, Study Program of Fine Art and Design. In 1984 the Study Program of Fine Art and Design was enhanced status to be Faculty of Visual Arts and Design.

Along with the change of status of ITB, through Decree of the Rector, Number 222/SK/K01/OT/2005, August 29, 2005 the credit units consists of 6 (six) Faculties to be 11 (eleven) Faculties/schools, even while it has been 13 (thirteen) Faculties/schools. Since that time, FTSP also experienced changes that originally has 6 (six) courses into four (4) courses, namely: Courses in civil engineering, Geodesy Engineering and Geomatic engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Ocean Engineering. The status of these four study programs is under the new Faculty i.e. Faculty of Civil and Environment Engineering (FCEE). While the other two study programs are Study Program of Architecture and Study Program of Urban Regional Planning forms its own faculty with the name of the School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPD).

On September 26, 2007, based on Decree of the Rector, Number 257/SK/K01/OT/2007 about the Transfer of Geomatic Engineering and Geodesy Engineering Program belong with Research Group in its own study program from FCEE to Faculty of Geological Science and Technology, then since 2008 FCEE only includes three (3) Study Programs, namely in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Ocean engineering.

Then in 2012, three new Study Programs are established namely Environmental Infrastructure Engineering Undergraduate Program (RIL), Water Resources Engineering and Management Undergraduate Program (TPSDA) and Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure Management Graduate Program (PIAS). Thus, since 2012 FCEE ITB organizes 13 Study Programs in table 1 below :
